Litigation & Arbitration

Cases are won in preparation, long before the hearing.

Overview

Litigation is the discipline our chambers was built around. We appear before the Madras High Court, city civil courts, district courts across Tamil Nadu, tribunals and arbitral panels — in recovery suits, specific performance actions, injunctions, writ petitions, appeals and execution proceedings.

Our approach is deliberately unglamorous: complete documents, an early theory of the case, a witness plan drafted before the first hearing, and honest advice about settlement value. Clients are told the realistic range of outcomes and the likely timeline, including the delays that no counsel can remove.

Where a dispute can be resolved without a decade in court, we say so. Where it must be fought, it is fought with a prepared brief and a partner who has read every page of it.

Questions

Frequently asked

A civil suit at first instance in Tamil Nadu commonly runs three to six years; commercial court matters and arbitrations are faster. Interim protection, however, is often secured within days or weeks — and that is usually what protects your commercial position.

Rarely. Your presence is generally needed only for evidence, certain family matters, and where a judge directs personal appearance. Everything else is handled by counsel.

A drafting and filing fee for the pleadings, then agreed appearance fees per effective hearing. You receive an estimate for each stage in advance, and we do not bill for adjournments we did not cause.
